I bought a hen about 2 months ago with 9 chicks.. i had a whole area in my yard fenced off for them and when my shepherd discovered them she stayed infront of the fence waititng for them to get close so she could stick her paw in and kill them...The first time she killed 2 chicks and the next time she killed 6...i didnt notice she had killed them the first time because she hid them i had never thought it was her.. until the next day i found 6 headless chicks lying around the yard...now she resorted to jumping a 4.5 ft fence to get to them but they went into the pen before she got a hold of them. i dont know what to do with her!! shes 14 months

We have chickens and a German Shephard and a Labrador.  Although the dogs love to chase the rabbits around here, they leave the chickens alone.  In fact, I have even seen my chewing on one end of a bone, and a chicken pecking at the other.  I think our luck is down to getting our puppies while we still have the older dogs, with good habits, to train them.
