Help

I recently had the same problem. I rescued a wild cat, then last week brought a young German Sheperd home. The cat freaked out. What I did was hold the dog on the lead and let the cat see him. I let this happen a few times. Then I slowly brought the dog closer. If the dog got too excited I would chastise him and let the cat see. This strengthened the confidence of the cat and slowly he accepted the dog in the same room. At present he tolerates the dog being in the same room, but does keep a watchful eye(as do I). In time both these animals will be able to eat at the same time and even eventually eat out of the same bowl. Often the cat will show the dog who's boss. Don't be frightened to let the cat scatch at the dog. This will teach him to keep his distance. I have done this successfully before. Both the dog and cat lived together for many years and the dog was even very protective of the cat. Good luck
